Australian Industry Association
Timeshare Australian Timeshare and Holiday Ownership Council Limited (ATHOC)
ATHOC was set up to serve and represent the Australian timeshare organisations who are based in or operate within Australia. They explain that they expect members to have a commitment to high professional standards and are expected to deliver the ‘very best of timeshare’ in Australia.
The industry membership is generally open to most who are directly or indirectly involved with timeshare resorts and the required ancillary services. To become a member of ATHOC, you are required to be dedicated to delivering the highest professional standards of service to not only your existing timeshare consumers/owners, but all other resort members and exchangers. ATHOC explains that membership is not an automatic right and those who are interested are required to apply to the Board for acceptance into the organisation.
ATHOC is a not-for-profit industry enterprise established in 1994 to represent all the interests of those involved in the delivery of Australian timeshare products and to work towards best practice.
ATHOC operates nationally via its industry-elected board who represent a wide range of membership categories covering resort developers, timeshare owners, promoters, marketers, exchange companies and organisations providing professional advice to the timeshare industry.
The board claims to work closely with members, their lawyers/advocates and with administrative and regulatory bodies throughout Australia.
ATHOC explains that it continually fosters high standards of ethics and adherence to industry best practice by ensuring that all members abide by a Code of Ethics and a Code of Practice.
